Designs are reusable pieces of artwork that you build in the design editor inside the product creator. Once you save a design, you can apply it to any product, so it's easy to use the same look across your whole product line.
You can build a design from any mix of:
A Bonfire template
Your own uploaded artwork
Text, shapes, and graphics from the editor
Open the design editor
When creating a product, select the print area you want to design (for example, Front, Back, Right Sleeve, or Left Sleeve).
On the left sidebar, click the Designs tab.
Click Create new to start from a blank canvas, or click Browse design templates to start from a template.
Start from a template
Templates are starter designs created by the Bonfire team that you can make your own.
In the Templates panel, scroll through the templates or search for something specific. You can also filter by style: Minimal, Retro, Handwritten, or Bold.
Click a template to add it to your canvas.
Customize it however you like. Swap in your own text, change the colors, or add more elements.
Add to your design
Use the tabs on the left side of the editor:
Templates: add a pre-made Bonfire design.
Text: click Add text, then choose a font.
Elements: add lines and shapes, or search the graphics library (for example, "mountain").
Uploads: click Upload new to add your own artwork (PNG, JPG, or SVG, up to 20 MB), or choose a file you've uploaded before.
Layers: see every layer in your design in stacking order. From here you can rename, hide, lock, or delete a layer.
☝️ Tip: Give your layers clear names, like "Logo" so they're easy to find in designs with many layers.
Customize your design
Click any element on your canvas to select it. You'll see a toolbar at the top of the editor and a quick menu just above the element, with lots of ways to make it look just right. For example, you can:
Change colors, fonts, and sizes
Add effects like curved text, shadows, or outlines
Adjust transparency
Align elements or move them in front of or behind each other
Lock an element in place so it doesn't get moved by accident
Duplicate or delete elements
Made a change you don't love? Use the undo and redo arrows at the top left.
☝️ Tip: To center an element perfectly, select the element, click on Position in the top toolbar, select Align center, and then Align middle.
Save and apply your design
When you're happy with your design, click Save design in the top right corner.
Give your design a name and save it.
That's it! Your design is saved in the Designs tab, and you can apply it to your desired print area.
To use a saved design on another product or print area, select the print area, open the Designs tab, and click the design. You can also search your designs by name.
Note: The Uploads tab only holds your uploaded image files. Anything you build in the design editor is saved in the Designs tab.
Editing a design that's already in use
If a design is already used on a product, it may be locked. This prevents accidental changes to live products.
To edit a design that's already used on a product:
Duplicate the design (easiest), or
Remove it from the product it's used on
