Bonfire makes it easy to create a beautiful Store — just follow these best practices outlined below.
Choose the right theme
Each Store on Bonfire comes with three preset themes: dark, light and custom. While the dark theme is selected by default, we encourage you to preview them all to see which one is right for you. Click on the “Edit header” button to choose a theme.
The dark theme usually works best in combination with uploading a photo to your header. If you’re not planning to use a photo, we suggest picking the light theme, which puts the focus on your Store title in an elegant way.
If you’re feeling adventurous or want to match your brand more closely, you can choose the custom option — where you can also select the header overlay color. Use one of our presets, or enter your own hex code in the input next to it.
Add a photo to your header
To create a Store that stands out, we recommend adding a photo to the background of your header. Photos work best when uploaded in at least 1600px by 900px format or similar. Don’t forget to preview the photo on your phone as well, since that's how most of your buyers will access the page.
It's best to use high quality images that are not too busy, so that the text remains legible. If you don't have a photo on hand, check out unsplash.com for a large collection of free, high quality photography.
You can use the photo opacity slider to pair the photo with a color overlay and try different combinations to achieve the desired look.
If you have access to your shirt's artwork, you can try to incorporate it into the background, creating a visually appealing, cohesive look.
If you have a photo of people wearing your shirts, it can come in handy as well.
Things to Avoid
Be mindful when pairing photos with overlaid text. If you're using a busy photo and don't have an alternative, try to increase the color overlay to keep the text legible.
If your photo already has text on it, we suggest removing it before uploading, otherwise things can get pretty messy.
Avoid using dark text on dark images and vise versa.
Use an image instead of text
If you have an established brand, you can also upload a custom image to replace the header text. Simply toggle the title settings and upload an image you’d like to use. You can choose to either keep the subtitle as is, or remove it by deleting it from the Store Settings.
Transparent .PNG files will work best in this case. If you don’t have a transparent logo file handy, we suggest keeping this toggle off and stick with the recommended text treatment.
If you would like to make the background photo fully opaque with nothing overlaid on top, you can upload a fully transparent .PNG logo file that will appear invisible. We only recommend this option for advanced users.
Customizing the sidebar
We suggest uploading a logo to the Store sidebar if you have one. Keep in mind that this logo will also show on any Campaign page that is added to the Store. Logos on a white background look best.
We also suggest adding a short bio about you/the Store along with some links to your social media accounts and your website. That will help your Store visitors know that they are on the right page.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to add a secondary title or a long description. You can dive into the true meaning of your Campaigns or why you started your Store in these sections.
